Trig Avionics, the company behind the TY91 and TY92 compact VHF 8.33 radio has announced a new software update for their highly successful product line.
Andy Davis CEO at Trig explained the background to the latest radio software. “Hundreds of Trig radios are installed in GA and rotary types around the world. We’ve gathered customer feedback from pilots about our radios, as part of our continuous improvement policy. Today we are releasing software version 1.5, for our TY91 and TY92 radios. We believe this makes a great product even better!” Version 1.5 provides improved audio performance, for both the transmit function and the radio intercom – particularly where intrusive noise is an issue. The TY92 has been used in search and rescue helicopters and this new enhancement has been welcomed by the aircraft operator and their pilots. The Trig radios transmit interlock performance has also been improved, beneficial where multiple radios are in operation, typically in heavier GA and rotary types. Finally, the addition of an adjustable mic gain control will enhance compatibility with both low and high power microphones. The Trig TY91 and TY92 radios are ideal for use in aircraft where panel space is tight. Each radio has a separate control head and hardware box that can be mounted elsewhere in the airframe. Despite their small size the TY91 and TY92 are certified and fully featured, with capabilities usually found in larger radios. Andy Davis said “compact radios may appear similar but the Trig radio has a unique push step feature, this makes the radio far quicker to adjust and more intuitive than other radios”. All Trig products can be updated via a simple software install, available from qualified Approved Trig Dealers. This is good news for existing Trig customers, who can get the best performance from their avionics without expensive hardware updates – all part of the smarter, affordable and future proof promise that Trig makes.
