Trig Avionics is proud to announce our sponsorship of local Edinburgh radio station, SAM Radio.
SAM (Scottish Autistic Media) Radio is the first of its kind. SAM Radio is a community internet radio station that caters for adults who have been diagnosed with Autism/Asperger’s Syndrome. Autism is a spectrum disorder (ASD) and is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.
The station broadcasts online and covers a range of music and chat across the week and has a global audience. Sam Radio is presented by adults on the autistic spectrum and is managed by Paul Ross, who holds a degree in Audio Engineering and who himself has a diagnosis of Asperger’s.
Paul Ross describes this unique radio station as, “Surfing the spectrum of sound – we invite people with Autism/Asperger’s to receive relevant training to work together in a safe and welcoming environment. This is a unique radio experience for the listener, providing music and up to date relevant information, to inform. It empowers people who have autism.”
Trig is sponsoring Andrew Adams. He presents the Wednesday breakfast slot on Sam Radio. Andrew, who has a full-time job with the NHS, has been working with SAM Radio for the last year. Speaking to Andrew’s Mother, Lynn Reid, she said, “I am incredibly proud of Andrew, his confidence has grown since starting with SAM Radio and he really enjoys his time live on air.” Lynn went on to say, “Planning an hour-long slot each week is no easy task. Andrew takes great pride in his show and I am delighted that Trig Avionics has chosen to sponsor Andrew.”
SAM Radio is helping its presenters build valuable social skills and confidence by giving them the opportunity to present and discuss opinions that matter to them live on air. As well as this, each radio presenter plans their own show, building organisational skills, and allowing each individual to grow their independence. SAM Radio is a non-profit organisation and they depend on adverts and sponsorship to support their community Radio Station.
SAM radio is live three days a week and is available globally to listen to online. Please find the link to listen to SAM radio here.
