Engineering

Lead Engineer - Apply now

You’ll be an expert in one of the following disciplines, and familiar with several others: digital hardware design, analogue hardware design, RF design, FPGA, verification and test, mechanical design or embedded software.  With experience of working in an engineering research and development environment you will be technical leader for a multidisciplinary project team with responsibility for delivery new products. You will take technical ownership of the complete product.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will join a small, friendly team and will demonstrate your ability to work well alongside people with various skill sets. You will have experience working with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure your product makes a smooth transition into volume production and will have experienced the full product development and manufacturing introduction life cycle for certified products.

With client facing experience and excellent communication skills, you will be able to lead technical discussions with colleagues and clearly convey complex technical concepts to clients and contractors. You’ll be capable of delivering accurate technical documentation with great attention to detail. You’ll have a confident outlook and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge and experience of certification of products and design manufacture will be an advantage, as will a knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment interfaces. Ideally, you’ll have a passion for aviation.

Whilst avionics is an advantage, applications are encouraged from engineers in other sectors, such as medical device, automotive and the oil and gas sector where relevant skills and experience are compatible. Experience of leading cross functional teams is highly desirable.

You will be responsible for a variety of tasks on a day-to-day basis dependent on your skill set and our project requirements, these may include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting product testing and certification activities

From the earliest stages of your career with us you will be exposed to, and have real responsibility for several projects and activities that encompass these tasks. As your career progresses, we will encourage you to develop a specialism over time, in a particular area or discipline within engineering, that suits both your interests and Trig’s needs.

You will have a general knowledge of all the constituent components and systems typically found in embedded devices and a strong interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Embedded software

  • FPGA or RF

You should be able to demonstrate this interest through your subject choice, academic performance or personal projects. Your personal interest will be demonstrated in self-taught engineering or technical hobby skills which might include amateur radio, designing a website for fun or profit, electronics/software development using a raspberry pi or even something like welding or car modification. If you have experience with C, C++ or VHDL, or experience in other languages we would also like to hear from you.

Sales

Sales Coordinator - Apply now

As the Sales Coordinator you will cover a broad range of sales support duties, including but not limited to order processing, assisting dealers, greeting visitors, and answering the telephone.

Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager you will be the initial contact for our Approved Trig Dealer network and our Private Label customers. You will also work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation to help deliver the professional and positive customer experience that Trig provides.

The key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Receiving orders from Trig clients over the phone or by email.
  • Processing orders from acceptance to invoicing; quoting price and conditions of sale.
  • Managing customer and end user expectations & requests.
  • Reporting on product orders and sales on a regular basis.
  • Providing a professional reception service for visitors and callers.

As the Sales and Marketing team tend to spend time on the road and you will be predominantly office based, taking responsibility for our sales desk. You will be an essential member of the team, maintaining a professional and confident presence whilst colleagues are away. Additional duties include:

  • Providing sales support at Trig trade shows and events.
  • Providing admin support to the Sales & Marketing team.
  • Liaising with other Trig departments.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of order processing in a manufacturing or production environment and of scheduling and prioritizing stock allocation. This means you must be highly organised with good attention to detail.

You must have excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and will be comfortable dealing with people both face to face and via the telephone. As you are often representing Trig to clients you need to be approachable, helpful, and responsive and reliable.

You will be a team player that everyone counts on, with a willingness to travel and flexibility to attend trade shows, sometimes during weekends.

You will be highly numerate and should be confident at manipulating data so experience of using MS Office applications, particularly Excel, at intermediate level is essential as is the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

It would be a bonus if you had a foreign language (French or German) and an interest or experience in aviation.

Customer Support

Customer Support Engineer - Apply now

We want to recruit a Customer Support Engineer for the Customer Support team. We pride ourselves on our excellent technical support and advice and many customers will buy our products because of the support they know we provide. This provision of excellent, and knowledgeable service then goes on to drive sales and repeat custom.

The Customer Support team has two distinct roles; to diagnose, repair and test products in accordance with aviation regulations (EASA Part 145) and to provide technical guidance on our products to installers or to end users via email, and telephone and at various industry events.

As a Customer Support Engineer you will repair products and will be a point of contact for our customers when they need help or advice on a product.

The key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Diagnosing, debugging, repairing and testing units and performing software updates.
  • Assisting customers with technical enquiries via telephone and email.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Part 145 regulations involved in daily work. This includes the correct completion of documents, error reporting and following of set procedures for testing and repair of units.

Other duties will involve:

  • Preparing units for sales demonstration purposes.
  • Performing required administration tasks.
  • Participating in cross functional groups to bring new products to market.
  • Writing of technical documentation (for internal and external audiences).

The successful candidate will understand electronics systems and have the ability to debug to component level. You should be able to read and understand technical documentation (BOMs, schematics) and demonstrate general IT skills in office applications. You will have a degree (or an HND/HNC with relevant experience) in a relevant subject such as electronics or avionics.

We’d love to hear from you if you have worked in a technical support or customer service role or have knowledge of avionics installation techniques. It would be a bonus if you can speak a foreign language (French or German) and have an interest or experience in aviation. Knowledge of Part 145, Part M or Part 21 would also be useful although we will provide full training.

While we are looking for someone with strong technical skills, we prize our reputation for customer service and we’ll need you to have a strong customer focus with the ability to problem solve and communicate technical concepts to people who may not have a technical background.

Quality

Quality Engineer - Apply now

As a Quality Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that Trig and our subcontractors work in accordance with industry regulations as we develop and introduce cutting edge products.

Reporting to the Quality Manager you will be involved in all aspects of the company’s quality systems. This role will involve working with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, external suppliers and customers.

The focus of the role will be to ensure all quality engineering activities operate in accordance with all policies, procedures and regulatory frameworks.

The key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Carrying out internal audits on Manufacturing products and processes based on industry regulations.
  • Carrying out external audits on subcontractors and suppliers as required based on industry regulations.
  • Producing status reports on Non-Conformances and any other quality related issues.
  • Monitoring and planning activities based on the quality system workload alerts.
  • Undertaking inspections of finished products prior to shipment.
  • Carrying out First Article Inspections (FAIs) as required.
  • Acting as Quality Representative on New Product Introduction (NPI) teams.
  • Working closely with Manufacturing on the accuracy of NPI documentation and processes prior to release.
  • Reviewing and developing existing procedures with document owners.
  • Supporting the Quality team in aspects of calibration and document control.

The successful candidate will have previous quality engineering experience within electronics manufacturing including surface mount assemblies. In addition, you will have been an active team member representing the Quality function in a NPI team. You will have the ability plan and prioritise workload, and have some experience of the implementation of quality control systems.

This means that you should have excellent PC skills, including Word, Excel and have a working knowledge of a Quality Management System such as QPulse. It is essential that you have experience of undertaking internal and external audits. This will entail travel to suppliers throughout the UK. Some calibration and document control experience would be advantageous.

You should be qualified to HNC/HND level or have the equivalent in terms of work experience. Ideally you should have successfully completed IPC training.

Manufacturing

Production Operator - Apply now

As a Production Operator within Manufacturing you will report to the Lead Operator and will be responsible for inspecting and testing completed units coming from our manufacturing suppliers. You will then be involved in packaging these products to be sent to customers.

We work within a highly-regulated sector and, because our products are used in light aircraft, we must ensure that they comply with stringent industry standards.

The key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Operating test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.
  • Making accurate records of test results.
  • Carrying out re-work of electronic circuits.

This means that you will have to be able to read and follow detailed procedures and it is essential that you are able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. You should be computer literate with good numeracy skills.

Previous experience of working in an electronics workshop and using test equipment is highly desirable, as is the ability to use a soldering iron. We will give preference to candidates who have an awareness of ESD procedures and experience of IPC standards.

You must have the ability to stay focussed when performing repetitive but complex tasks and your handwriting must be clear and legible.

We work 37.5 hours per week with flexible working around the core working hours of 10am until 3pm. As this role is an addition to the established manufacturing team we would prefer candidates who favour a later start time; normally working between 10am and 6.30pm. At exceptionally busy times we may have to introduce shift working so this position would be affected.
